Experimenting with AR in Unity

Technology

Unity is a cross-platform game engine released in 2005. Since its initial release date, Unity has continued to evolve and update their versions until the latest, 2019.2.3, that was released on August 2019.

Unity technology is the basis for most virtual reality and augmented reality experiences. It has consumed approximately half of the mobile games on the market and 60 percent of augmented reality and virtual reality content, including approximately 90 percent on emerging augmented reality platforms, and 90 percent of Samsung Gear VR content.

Objective

This experiment was conducted to create a simple AR in Unity using the built-in Vuforia Engine.

Experiment – Final Result

Here, I created a simple sphere object on top of the postcard to be displayed in AR.

Challenges

No challenges were faced during the experimentation; however, it was quite confusing to utilize and explore a new application.

Conclusion

Although this experiment is very basic, I hope to learn more about it in the future and utilize it in my final project.
